How it (Yansa) all began…
I feel like a catchy title for this post would be something like “From crisis to clarity: turning lockdown survival into a business built on purpose”, but it sounds a bit cheesy, so I went with the title above instead.
Like so many small businesses, Yansa Business Support didn’t begin with a grand vision or a five-year plan. It began with a very real, very human need: to pay the bills.
Back in 2020, when the world turned upside down, I - like many others - found myself in an unexpected position. The UK had gone into lockdown. My job disappeared. Life paused. But the bills didn’t.
With a young family to support and the weight of uncertainty growing heavier each day, I turned to what I knew: organisation, admin, communication, and problem-solving. I’d always been the go-to person for getting stuff sorted. So I decided to offer those skills to others in the only way possible at the time -virtually.
And just like that, Yansa was born.
At first, it was simple. I offered freelance admin support to small business owners who were struggling to stay on top of things during the chaos. Inbox help, calendar wrangling, typing up notes, chasing invoices, call management - whatever they needed, I was there. It was practical, honest work. No fluff, no jargon. Just real support for real people, at a time when we all needed it most.
But as time went on, something unexpected happened - I realised this wasn’t just a stopgap. It started to grow.
I realised that what I was offering went beyond admin. I was helping people breathe again. Helping them create space in their day. Helping their businesses run smoother - so they could focus on what they were good at.
So I leaned in.
Yansa Business Support began to evolve into something more structured, more intentional. I invested in my skills. I refined my services. I brought on like-minded VAs to expand our capacity. Together, we built a small, dedicated team offering specialist business support—from HR and admin to content and operations.
Now, a few years on, Yansa isn’t just a business. It’s a lifeline for busy professionals who need reliable, empathetic, behind-the-scenes support. And it’s a testament to the power of starting small, saying yes, and figuring it out as you go.
We know what it’s like to juggle work, life, and everything in between - because that’s where we started. We bring not just professionalism, but compassion. Not just systems, but support.
